Volunteer Policy & Application
Donate Used Materials
WMPL accepts donations of books and audio visual materials that are in good condition. The library does not accept books with mold, condensed books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, textbooks, magazines, or VHS tapes.
Please bring your donations to the library circulation desk or place small donations in any book drop with a denotation of such. A receipt for tax purposes is available when you bring your donation to the library circulation desk. Please contact WMPL at 715-294-2310 to discuss donations of larger collections.
The library does not provide appraisals.
What happens to donated materials
Staff will determine whether the material will be added to the library collection or given to the Friends of the Osceola Library to be sold in a book sale to benefit the library. Materials that contain outdated information about health, science, business, etc. will be recycled.
Once you donate an item, the gift becomes the property of the library or the Friends of the Osceola Library. We are unable to return donated materials.
Value
By law, we cannot determine the value of a donation for tax purposes. We can supply you with a receipt that acknowledges the donation you made to the library.
Complete a Community Service Requirement
Volunteer hours are available at WMPL to fulfill community service requirements.
It may take up to three weeks to process your request before you can begin your volunteer hours. If you face a deadline to complete your volunteer hours, please allow enough time for your application to be processed.
How to apply
