Board Member Job Description


Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per month (meetings, preparation, consultation, volunteering, training)

Term:  Three years, appointed or elected at Annual Meeting (end of year)

 OPL Mission: The Osceola Public Library (OPL) enriches the community by bringing people, information, and ideas together. We encourage lifelong learning and information literacy and provide materials and services to fulfill the informational and recreational needs of the community members.

Duties and Expectations: 

  • Volunteer for at least one OPL event
  •   Prepare for and participate in monthly meetings
  •  Assist with development and approval of long range OPL plan
  • Advocate for the OPL
  • Work as a team member in support of library services
  • Serve on at least one committee of your choice


  • Lives within the Village of Osceola
  • Financial experience is highly desirable
  • Commitment of time
  • Investment in creating a thriving community

The Osceola Public Library Board of Trustees is comprised of appointed Osceola residents who share a love of learning and community. The job of the individual Library Board member is to participate as part of the Board team to accomplish the Library's mission.
